Practical, informed advice for land managers
With 55 years of industry experience between us, the Forest Carbon team has a proven track record of delivering practical, informed advice to land managers looking to enter the voluntary carbon market and enhance nature on their land.
Bespoke advice services are offered across a spectrum of fields, including:
Advising/assisting with fundraising and development of novel projects
While we recognise and respect the UK’s woodland and peatland codes (we helped to develop them) we understand that they don’t suit every nature project. If your project is innovative and will clearly deliver nature benefits, but isn’t Code-suitable, we might be able to help you access funding or develop new methodologies regardless.Carbon market guidance
The voluntary carbon market can feel like a minefield for land managers; what are your credits or projects worth in today's market? Are you best selling your carbon now, or holding for future price changes? What are you liable for if you go ahead with a tree planting or peatland restoration project? How should you manage contractual agreements with land ownership change? We are available to answer your questions, talk you through your options, and share trends we’ve observed in the market.UK Land Carbon Registry account set up
When taking your project through either the Woodland Carbon Code or Peatland Code, we can walk you through Land Carbon Registry account creation and the various merits and disadvantages of setting up your account vs being administered by an established project developer like ourselves.Transfers, assignments and retirements of credits
When you sell the carbon from your project, the ownership of these credits will change hands in the UK Land Carbon Registry. We can facilitate this transfer, assignment or retirement on behalf of you and the end buyer.Geospatial mapping
There are many ways to go about geospatial mapping; we can advise on the best option for your project, what kind of map you need, and what tech is best to facilitate it. We can also provide high-quality maps of your entire project or individual details within it.Emerging nature markets
Whilst we primarily work within the woodland and peatland carbon markets, we monitor emerging nature markets like biodiversity, soil carbon, blue carbon (marine), hedgerow carbon, and agroforestry. We are happy to share what we know about these markets, and if we can’t help we’ll likely have someone in our network who can.Research and development
Our extensive experience in the voluntary carbon market (VCM) and our active involvement in its development uniquely position us to foster innovation. We frequently leverage our expertise to aid in creating VCM-related products and services that will enhance and strengthen the market. Depending on how much of our time you need, we may bill per hour for this.
