onboard:earth at Lowther 3

Lowther 3 has a net planting area of over 58ha. It is located within the Lake District National Park near Penrith.

The project establishes a large native broadleaf woodland with the long-term aim of re-creating pasture woodland. The planted compartments are spread across a larger gross area, and surrounded by fields. The project will support wildlife, create habitat, and generate a wide range of environmental benefits. Lowther 3 will consist of low-density broadleaf woodland, with large areas of open ground converted to wildflower meadows. There will be wildlife-friendly structures to support biodiversity, wildlife habitat, and landscape.
