Working together with partners globally we are able to bring international offset projects to The Fuel Store and their customers. These projects are subject to the same high standard of quality assurance we have here in the UK, using one or more of the Gold Standard, the Verified Carbon Standard and the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance Standard. Credits are issued and retired publicly, to provide partners and their stakeholders with transparency.
International credits have the added benefit of offering immediate term carbon neutrality, as they arise from projects which are mature enough to have carbon savings underway.
Currently we have projects in India, China and Turkey, but this will change over time as our programme evolves. See below for some further information a hydro power project in India.
Baspa, Northern India
The purpose of the project activity is to generate power using renewable hydro energy. The generated electricity is being exported to the regional grid system which is under the purview of the Indian grid, dominated otherwise by mainly fossil fuel fired power plants. The Baspa project is a run-of-the-river hydro-electric power plant with an installed capacity of 300 MW. The diversion barrage of the project is located across river Baspa, at Kuppa in Himachal Pradesh. The power house is located at Karcham village in Kinnaur District.
